The V-GeoSciEd project is delighted to announce its upcoming Teacher Training Workshop, taking place in Vienna this July as part of the European project V-GLOBAL – Virtual Geoscience Education for Diversity and Inclusion.

This international event will bring together teachers, researchers and education professionals from across Europe for a full week of collaborative work on inclusive and participatory Virtual Field Trips (VFTs), with a strong focus on diversity, equity and inclusion in education.

What to expect

Over four days of workshops, participants will:

• Explore diversity and inclusion in subject-matter education through talks and discussions
• Take part in practical sessions on designing inclusive Virtual Field Trips
• Work collaboratively on lesson planning and toolkit development
• Present and exchange ideas through participatory, peer-feedback sessions
• Enjoy plenty of opportunities for networking and cultural exchange

The programme is hosted at the University of Vienna’s teaching and learning laboratory, and combines morning and afternoon workshops with optional evening activities — including a picnic at the Bee-garden, a guided city tour and visits to Vienna’s natural history and art museums. The week will close with a farewell cocktail, where participants are warmly invited to bring a speciality from their own country to share.

Why it matters

By combining hands-on pedagogical tools, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and international collaboration, the workshop aims to strengthen inclusive teaching practices and help educators bring diversity and inclusion into their classrooms through innovative digital tools.

Guideline for Integrating Diversity and Inclusion in Geography and Science Education

A comprehensive pedagogical resource for educators across Europe

We are pleased to announce the publication of the Online Guidelines developed through Work Package 2 of the V-GeoSciEd project. This resource constitutes a comprehensive and accessible tool designed to support educators in implementing inclusive and sustainable pedagogical practices within geography and science education.

This resource emerges from extensive stakeholder engagement, including consultations with teacher educators, initial teacher education students, and practising classroom professionals across Europe. This empirical foundation has enabled the project team to develop guidance that directly addresses the lived experiences and practical challenges encountered by educational professionals.

The Guidelines respond to a fundamental imperative: the necessity for deliberate intervention to address persistent educational inequities and to equip educators with the knowledge and tools requisite for promoting equitable pedagogical practice.
