The project’s flagship pedagogical resource reaches a further milestone: following the English edition, versions in French, German, Greek and Spanish are now published.
Announced in June, the guideline produced under Work Package 2 of the V-GeoSciEd project was, until recently, available only in English. This limitation has now been addressed: all five language editions foreseen by the consortium have been released, enabling each partner institution to disseminate the resource in its own working language.
A resource now accessible across the partnership
The guideline, intended for teacher trainers, sets out an inclusive pedagogical approach for geography and science education. It is structured around the MODI model (Model for integrating Diversity and Inclusion), grounded in the principles of Universal Design for Learning, and offers a framework for developing teaching practice that is simultaneously inclusive and sustainability-oriented.
While the resource remained available in English alone, its practical uptake was necessarily constrained in those partner countries where French, German, Greek or Spanish constitutes the working language of teacher education. The concurrent publication of all five editions removes this constraint, allowing initial and continuing teacher-training teams in France, Germany, Greece and Spain to engage directly with the guideline, alongside their English-speaking counterparts.
Content of the guideline
Beyond its theoretical framework, the document comprises:
- conceptual foundations relating to diversity, inclusion and sustainability within the school context;
- guidance on integrating these considerations into geography and science curricula;
- illustrative case studies drawn from classrooms across Europe;
- evaluation instruments for assessing the impact of the practices adopted.
Two formats, two purposes
Each language edition is offered in two downloadable formats: a lightweight digital version suited to on-screen reading, and a high-resolution print version prepared for saddle-stitched binding (250g cover, 135g inner pages, A4 format). Training teams wishing to organise workshops or in-person sessions may accordingly print the edition appropriate to their own language directly.
